  Earlier it was a Mosque ... latter it renovated as church ... relatively new one ... It was created between 1901 and 1902 through the conversion of an abandoned Ottoman mosque, and was inaugurated on 27 July 1903. The church is named after Cyril and Methodius and their five disciples, known in the Orthodox Church collectively as the Sedmochislenitsi.... The construction works took a year, between 27 May 1901 and 6 May 1902, but the complete inner decoration did not finish until 1996. ...

  Once the church was actually the Black mosque - during the Liberation war and after Ottoman rule it was a prison at the near end of town. Then it survived the mass demolition of moscues in the new-elected Principality capital and after a doubtful City Council vote was built to be the church that it is today.

  A typical Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox church. It's very pretty on the inside. If you're in the neighborhood you should definitely stop in.

  As far as I know it was a turkish mosque but when we got rid of them some patriots rebuilt it for us. Amazing Icons inside. I like the garden also, it is where I grew up as a child.
