::The Museum of Christian Art is located in the crypt of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which was originally designed as a tomb, but was never used for this purpose. The museum was opened in 1965 as a branch of medieval and Bulgarian Revival art at the National Art Gallery; contains about 300 exhibits dating from the IX to the end of the XIX century.
