    I wish there was an option to leave zero stars. I chose this chain in search for proficient and trustworthy advice on "clean", well-aged cheeses and possible some salt-only cured ham. I am defining "clean" food as such that has no ingredients that do not belong there. Real cheese only needs its ferment and rennet. Any colouring, preservatives or thickening agents are no longer (at least to my knowledge) going to be consumed by me. As I was politely greeted by the staff, I headed over to the cheese stand. There was a choice of what looked like hard and semi-hard cheeses, so I wanted to know how they are made. There was a big confusion in the answers given, but at least I was able to find the most old-aged cheeses and purchased a little of each. Needless to say the prices were well over some of the posh grocery stores in the UK. Heck, I even compared them to what I paid for the same cheeses in Zurich and they were still higher. I was hoping to get quality and was willing to pay for it. Once done with the cheese shopping I moved over to the meat delicacies. This is where it got really confusing - one of the members of staff explained she went over all products with another customer, in search for a "clean", salt-only cured meat and they all had something added. The girl that served the cheese stand insisted there were such products and pointed to the most expensive Spanish hams. Unfortunately, there were no labels with ingredients readily available, so I had to ask for such to be printed to be sure of what I am paying 180 lv. for a kilo. I was presented with a freshly-printed, company-branded sticky label listing just some ingredients - no association with the product or its name etc. I had done some reading on their website the day before and decided to take a chance and have a 100gr of two of their finest hams, that I was so deeply ensured contained nothing but the meat and salt, no nitrites or whey / egg protein powders. Everything was wrapped without any additional comment and the bill was settled. When I got home I was pretty disappointed to find that meats were actually sliced for about 150 gr each which with the given price per kilo makes a hefty difference. The biggest nuisance was that half of the meat slices were actually stuck on the wrapping paper and a layer of it was peeling along with the meat. I tried washing the paper off but they were so thinly sliced that just dismantled in my hands under the water drip. Like this wasn't enough, trying the actual meats caused all sorts of digestive issues for five people including myself. They didn't smell bad or did not look anything out of the ordinary compared to the Jamon Serrano I tried in Barcelona, so I can only attribute this to the hidden ingredients which were such a well-kept secret. I understand these businesses need to sell to survive, but when this is done at the expense of their customers' health, I stand against.
